We recently had the chance to chat with Lyle Howry about getting his start in the entertainment industry, producing “The Dukes of Hazard”, working on “Street 2”, and more!
1. How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?
Wow, that has been a long time ago, lol!  I started out working as an extra in Hollywood. I would get called to show up for extra parts and spend anywhere from 12 to 18 hours on the set for very little pay. I also did some modeling. That’s basically how I started and got my foot in the door.
2. What was your experience like producing “The Dukes of Hazzard”?

Well, I only played a small role in that show. I helped bring in a little money on a few episodes and got a credit for my efforts. It got me in the mix and was good to get the credit and establish my name. At the end of the day that is what you want to do; establish your name even if you have to take a little less.
3. What is Street 2 about?

The first film “Street” was a good film. It was good enough to pass up the big studio film “Deadpool” on Walmart.com, going to number 1, and selling out in just 3 days. “Street 2” takes a huge turn. Remo Street is killed and his half brother, Ales Street (a damaged US Army Ranger) comes home from his second tour in Afghanistan to bury his brother. Remo  was killed competing in an underground fight club sponsored by local crime boss Uri Sakalov. In the midst of their mourning, the family is hit with another tragedy. Ales’ little sister, Jessy, is kidnapped by Chinese Triads. That’s all I can really give out without going in the whole story. This a big budget film with lots of great action and a bigger story and plot than the first movie.

4. Why do you think Street 1 one did so well?

Honestly it was all about cross marketing and social media. When I was putting the film together I chose MMA fighters that were fairly well known in the fight world. I hired MMA fight radio and had them publicize it. We also did interviews and big media spots. The poster was really catchy which brought attention to the film as well. Our distributor did a great job getting us a deal on Netflix in 241 countries and we were also on every social media platform such as iTunes, Yahoo, and YouTube. In addition, we had a limited theatrical release. There was a lot to get done in making it successful. Even now I still do press for that film and I am still pushing it in different markets. That’s the thing with Indy Films if you don’t push them they just sit on the shelf and nobody watches them. You have to work hard at it because it’s a big job.
5. Are you working on anything at the moment?
Yes, “Street 2: Death Fight” is in pre-production we are making offers on our lead actors and we have our major director locked in. I also have several things in development. There is a new series called “Affiliated” that I am producing with A.D. Lavalliere which will film in Florida along with several other projects in the works.
6. What are your goals for 2018?

I would like to do at least 3 films this year and a couple of television series. If I can do that then it will be a great year.
