Interview With Singer Misty Posey! (@MistyPoseyMusic)

  1. How would you describe your musical sound?

Josh Groban meets Celtic Woman

  1. When did you realize that you wanted to become a singer?

Well, singing along with Disney movies was certainly my first love.  After performing in a few musicals and auditioning, I realized that I wanted to sing music that I really loved.  So, I heard “Panis Angelicus” for the first time, and I decided to record it. I followed that with songs I’d been writing.  Writing those first songs for my voice, being able to sing notes that many composers are afraid to write for sopranos, loving every lyric as much as my favorite Josh Groban song, I knew it was my craft.

  1. You recently released an album, how would you describe it?

The songs tell our stories in a way that makes them timeless tales.  There are songs dating back to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and new ones I have written.  All of the songs are new arrangements with brilliant instruments from Celtic to standard orchestral instruments.  A few songs are soft and peaceful, while most have that fire you get with a movie soundtrack.

  1. What is your favorite track off of the album?

One of the first songs I wrote and recorded – “When the Wind Blows.”  This song is everything I love – from the lyrics to Celtic instruments to percussion to everything.  The song is about indescribable moments I’ve had standing in the wind, that feeling of something bigger, of storms and seasons, the unknown – I can’t believe I created words to describe these moments.

  1. Have you been doing any touring or hosting any events to promote it?

I have started singing at Renaissance and Celtic festivals.  These fans are emersed in fantasy and medieval movies and music, so they love that I have new songs for them.  I’m still adding shows to my schedule, and I will definently look into hosting an event.

  1. What is your favorite part about performing?

I’m not sure.  It’s just magic once I start singing on stage.  I’m completely in the song and yet on a stage presenting it at the same time.

  1. Do you have any other upcoming projects fans can look forward to?

Yes, I’m working on a few collaborations which are fairing some gorgeous songs, and I will also have a Christmas album this season.
