Savannah Kennick Talks “Arrested Development” In Exclusive Interview! (@SavannahKennick)

  1.   How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?

When I was 14, I got scouted by a modeling agent in New York and immediately started pursuing it. While I was in the city, I got to visit some of my friends’ film sets and was so inspired; within about a year and a half, I moved to Los Angeles.

  1. What was the first major project you worked on?

The first major project I worked on was HOLIDAYS–an anthology horror film that is streaming on Netflix now!

  1.   If you could describe your experience working on “Arrested Development” in three words, what would they be and why?

Exciting, cathartic and honestly, intimidating. I was super excited to join the cast of a show that so many people love and play the younger version of such an iconic character. I say cathartic because leading up to booking the show, I had been working super hard, and getting so close to getting so many different roles which then just wouldn’t happen. And then I got the call that I booked this, and it all finally made sense. I had to go through those challenges in order to realize what a blessing this was. But all of that being said, it was definitely the most intimidating set I had ever been on. “Arrested Development” was my first job in television and the cast I was going to be working with were all veteran actors. After the first day though, it felt like I had joined the family.

  1. Same question but for BLOOM.

Demanding, daunting, and emotional.  BLOOM was my first leading dramatic role and throughout the film, my character doesn’t have a lot of dialogue, but has a huge story arch, so I really had to just be in the moment and act. It took a lot out of me every day, but it also terrified me at first to carry that weight. BLOOM for me was such an important story to tell; again, I started out modeling in New York and I had seen this story played out so many times.

  1. What does the #metoo movement mean to you?

The bravery of those who have come forward to share their stories to ensure others do not have to go through the same traumatic experience means so much to me. It is not an easy thing to do at all.

  1.   What is it like getting to work with Liza Koshy?

It was great! Her personality is the same on and off camera, so she made the set more fun.

  1.   Has she provided you with any advice about the entertainment industry or life in general?

Unfortunately, since she was the lead actress while producing the show, we didn’t get to talk much, but she was always very kind.

  1.   What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

In my free time, I like to read, hike, paint, and I’ve recently got into film photography.

  1.   Do you have any other upcoming projects you’d like to share with us?

Season 5 of “Arrested Development” will be streaming on Netflix March 15, and my film “DO NOT REPLY” will be released this year!

  1. What is your dream role?

I’d love to play a lot of different roles in my career, but I think my top two would be Anna Karenina or a villain like Amy in GONE GIRL.

  1. Do you have any advice for those wanting to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?

If I could tell myself anything at the start of my career, it would’ve been to really remember that hard work and opportunity are the keys to success. Nothing really good in life comes easy.
