The latest news and interviews about Hollywood's rising stars

We recently had a chance to talk with Merritt Patterson from Radio Rebel! During this interview, she talks about her upcoming projects, inspirations, fans, and more!

Check it out below!

1. How did you get your start in acting?
I actually started out modeling. Doing photo shoots locally. After working a few jobs I tried to find modeling representation and had little luck due to lack of height. Acting seemed like the next best thing. I have always been involved with dance and music. Acting was the one thing I hadn’t tried yet. Turned out to be what I love most!

2. Who are your inspirations?
I’m inspired by things that motivate me in all different aspects of life. The films I find most inspiring are the ones that are so captivating you forget your sitting in a theatre. You feel for the characters. Blue Valentine is one of my all time favourites. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams can do no wrong in my eyes. I also saw Argo recently and was very inspired! The story the movie was based on is incredible.

3. Do you have any upcoming projects?
There are a few upcoming projects I’m excited about! I filmed a Canadian Indie this past February called RUFUS. It should be hitting theatres in Canada 2013, not sure if it has American distribution yet… KID CANNABIS is an American Indie that was shot this past summer in Victoria, BC. This will hit theatres across North America in 2013. Most recently I wrapped filming the feature film WOLVES in Toronto, ON. Really hoping that one will be out by next fall. Each project and character was so different, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of all of them!

4. What was it like working on Radio Rebel?
Radio Rebel was a really fun project to work on. The director, Peter Howitt, was amazing to work with. Stacy, was a hilarious character to play. Dramatic and over the top, the opposite of what I was like in high school, which made it all the more fun. Many of the main cast have become good friends of mine. I’m so fortunate to have been apart of that film.

5. What was your first project?
The first job I ever booked was an UNO commercial! It was all green screen, which was really foreign and interesting. I think I was 15 years old.

6. Do you have any advice for anyone who wants to become an actress like yourself?
The best advice I can give to anyone wanting to become an actor is stay positive and be persistent! Make sure you really love it. It requires a lot of commitment and sacrifice but can be extremely rewarding.

7. What’s the best piece of advice you have received?
The best advice I’ve been given is to not take anything too personally. There’s a lot of rejection and you can only go so far when preparing for a role. Sometimes you’re just not the right look or the right person for a job.

7. Do you have any social networking accounts where your fans can keep in touch with you?
I don’t do a ton of social networking… I’m starting to do more and more. I do have a twitter account! @merrittpattrsn. That’s the best way to stay in contact with me!

9. Do you have anything you want to say to your fans who have been supporting you?
A big thank you to all the fans. It’s comforting to know there are people out there routing for you! Feels good and is appreciated. Thank you 🙂
