We recently had the chance to speak with Regan Burns from Disney Channel’s “Dog With A Blog.” During the interview we spoke to him about his character on “Dog With A Blog”, inspirations, upcoming projects, and more! Make sure you check out the interview below!

1. How did you get your start in acting?

I’m offended that you even have to ask that question.  Im sure you remember my unforgettable moment on the hit NBC series, Suddenly Susan when I uttered the words, “My name is Jeff.”  Well, if you don’t remember that historical TV moment, I did indeed play the character of Jeff, and needless to say,  I was AMAZING!  I of course would then go on to utter such memorable lines as “How ya gonna catch a mermaid without any mermaid bait?” in the made for TV Disney movie, The Thirteenth Year.  And who can forget my Frito Lay’s commercial when I was hanging from a crane on Santa Monica beach dressed as a cupid, shooting my potato chip arrow of love.  In other words, I paid my dues.  🙂

2. Do you have any upcoming projects?

I’m just wrapping up filming the first season of the new Disney (they love me) TV show, Dog With a Blog.  We will have shot a full 22 episode season just before the holidays.  I play the character, Bennett James, who has just recently remarried and formed a blended family.  He is a child psychologist and best selling author who knows everything about kids, except raising his own.  Did I mention there is a talking dog?

3. Who are your inspirations?

I get inspired by any actor, director or writer who does good work.  Michael Keaton, Bill Murray, Jack Nicholson and Robert DeNiro were four of my favs growing up, but my list could go on for pages.

4. Is there anyone in particular you would like to work  with in the future?

The funny thing about the biz, is sometimes the most “talented” people are the least fun to work with.  Sometimes you may have the best time on the job, with some so-so actors on a project that is not particularly good.  On the other hand, I have worked with some pretty big names before, and in some instances, found the process to be horrible.  I just want to work with good people who love what they do.

5.  Do you have any advice for anyone that wants to become an actor like yourself?

Yes, GET OUT!  This is a nutty profession and you need really, REALLY thick skin.  But if you still insist and want to roll the Hollywood dice, I suggest figuring out what your “thing” is.  What are you strongest at?  Comedy, Drama, Stand up, sketch?  And find a way to showcase your strengths.  And make sure you are doing this for the right reasons.  Becoming a “star” is not one of them.  And if it doesn’t workout, I hear Denny’s is hiring.
