Exclusive Interview With Michael Murphy From “Life With Boys.” (@OfficialMMurphy)
We recently had the chance to speak with Michael Murphy from Teen Nick’s “Life With Boys.” Make sure you check out the interview below!
1. How did you get your start in acting?
I began acting at a very young age, around seven. Initially was asked to do modeling, and from that found myself in commercials, then theater, and then television. It has been a progressive building.
2. What was your first project?
I had participated in various commercials and what not, but, truly, my first big project was Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Production of the Sound of Music at The Princess of Wales Theater in Toronto. It was truly one of the most wonderful experiences and I learnt a great deal.
3. What is it like working on Life With Boys?
Working on Life With Boys has been great fun. I have so enjoyed my time there and really do love working with everyone involved in its production. The set has an air of warmth that is provided by everyone involved, and something quite funny is always going on. Having said that, it is a professional, working environment, but one of great hilarity.
4. Who is your favorite person to work with?
Honestly, I must say, I cannot choose a single person, because I so enjoy working with the entirety of the cast. We are all very good friends and filming scenes with all of us is quite fun. Jake, who plays my younger brother in the show, and I seem to have a lot of scenes together. It is quite wonderful to see someone of his age, carry himself in such an environment, and he always manages to make me laugh.
5. Do you hang out with the cast when you are not working?
The cast is very close and we do often get together. Even while filming, having seen each other everyday we would get together on weekends. When not filming we see each other as well, obviously not as often, but we try to stay in touch. It is quite nice, really.
6. What was your favorite episode to film? Why?
There was an episode we filmed where I was doing a lot of stunt work. That was something very new to me and certainly very different from the norm. That episode asserts itself in my mind as one of my favorites to film and an episode where I did a scene in a bubble bath certainly stands out.
7. If you could star on another television show which one would it be and why?
If I could star in another television show it would most likely be Downton Abbey. I simply love period peaces, and I find the regality and ascetic of the show very appealing. Also, I love Maggie Smith.
8. What do you like to do when you are not working?
When I am not working, I am a fulltime student. I really do rejoice in delving into the realm of academia and scholasticism is very important to me. I also enjoy venturing into various other areas of the arts and I greatly enjoy painting. I also participate in various sporting events; horse riding is a particular love of mine. Also, I highly treasure my participation in philanthropy and try to do as much charity work as I can. I like to keep busy.
9. Is there anything you want to say to your fans who have been supporting you?
Well I must say that the attention from fans of the show has been very flattering and very nice to see and hear. It is very nice hearing feedback from people from the show and people have been so very kind.
10. Do you have any social networking accounts where your fans can stay connected with you?
Much to my chagrin, I do have twitter( @officialmmurphy) and am learning to enjoy it. I also have a Facebook and Instagram account.
