The latest news and interviews about Hollywood's rising stars

We recently had the chance to speak with the lovely Jessica Lee Keller from Disney Channel’s “Teen Beach Movie.” Make sure you check it out below!

1. How did you get your start in acting?

I started taking acting classes in NYC while I was a part of Cedar Lake
Contemporary Ballet. We had classes once a week with all the dancers, and I fell
in love with it. It was incredible to learn how much it could enhance my
performance as a performer.

2. What was your first project?

George Nolfi gave me my first acting job in the Adjustment Bureau with Matt
Damon and Emily Blunt. I met him about 5 years prior to the film being made. He
came to me for information about the life of a dancer, the ins and outs, ups and
downs, etc. I introduced him to Cedar Lake, and he started coming to our shows
and some rehearsals to learn as much as he could. He kept in contact with me
over the next few years, as his process of writing about a dancer needed more
detail. I got a call from his assistant about 4 years after our initial meeting
asking if I could put myself on tape. At that time, I wasn’t living in NYC anymore,
so he asked me to fly out and audition in person. I ended up landing the role of
Lauren, a dancer, and Emily Blunts best friend. It was quite magical, as both
actors were at my final audition. Matt actually ran into one of my scene while we
were taping it, to really give me the full experience of what it would be like on the
day. I was definitely in a little bit of shock afterwards! It’s not everyday Matt
Damon runs in and asks you a question! I also got dual credit as assistant
choreographer in the film, which was beyond exciting for me to be on both sides
of the camera.

3. What was it like working on Teen Beach Movie?

Working on Teen Beach Movie was incredible. Again, getting to be on both sides
of the camera was an honor. I came into this project as Christopher’s assistant
choreographer and ended up landing the role of Struts! It was a pretty intense
process, from creating the dance numbers, to cast meetings, to rehearsals on the
beach and on set, and building a character all at the same time. Let’s just say I
had my hands full, and I loved every minute of it!

4. What was your favorite scene to film?

My favorite scene to shoot was ‘Falling for You’. I got to be one of the back up
singers in the dance number and had a blast!
5. What was it like working with the cast and crew?
I couldn’t have asked for a more loving, dedicated, and dynamic cast&crew of
individuals. We became a big family, and throughout the process gained amazing,
strong, beautiful friendships. We had fun, and then we had…more fun!

6. What can fans expect from the movie?

Fans can expect to have a blast! It is a sweet love story, a story about fighting for
what you believe in, the power of unity, and most importantly, empowering young
woman to be strong and believe in themselves. I think they also can expect to be
singing, dancing, and sharing after they watch it. The music and choreography is
fantastic, they won’t want to keep it to themselves!

7. How would you describe your character?

I would describe Struts as a girly girl with a bit of an edge who just wants to have
a good time. She’s fun, flirty, completely “over it” at times, and is definitely
addicted to her shoes and bubble gum!

8. Is there anything you want to say to your fans who have been supporting
you?

I want to share my extreme gratitude to all of the fans out there, your support is
astonishing! We went on this marvelous journey together in the making of this
film, and I am so excited to finally share it with you all!

9. Do you have any social media accounts where your fans can stay connected
