Exclusive Premiere Of Denelle’s “Imperfectly Perfect” Acoustic Video! (@DenelleOfficial)
1. How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
It started off with me recording demo songs at home. From there I started working with a producer guy my dad knew quite well. I ended up signing a deal with him which would allow me to go on and record an EP and album. It was all really exciting and I’m grateful for that opportunity!
2. How would you describe your style of sound?
My sound is very Pop/R&B. I like experimenting a little bit and throwing in some other elements in the mix as well, but for the most part its a very Pop/R&B sound.
3. Do you play any instruments?
I do! I play piano. Most if not all of my music starts at the piano or keys and I work on ideas from there onwards.
4. What was it like growing up in New Zealand?
Its been amazing. Theres no other place like it and it really is home for me. Its definitely been a massive privilege growing up in such an epic country.
5. Who are your musical influences?
My first and foremost would definitely have to be Ne-Yo! He’s an amazing songwriter, Michael Jackson, Trey Songz and Bruno Mars to name a few. On the production side, I love listening to a lot of EDM and R&B so guys like Zedd, Calvin Harris, Stargate and Chuck Harmony are definitely influential in my own music production.
6. Can you tell us about your album?
“Verse One” was the name of my 10 track debut album that I released two years ago and the reason I called it that was because it was literally a verse one moment for me, being my first album ever. It debuted at number 17 on the New Zealand’s Top 20 albums chart which was really exciting for me. Its available on iTunes so you can go check it out right now.
7. Do you have any other upcoming projects?
I have my new EP entitled “The Imperfectly Perfect EP” coming out towards the end of the year and I’m currently in the process of putting together track for it. My lead single #ImperfectlyPerfect is available right now so make sure to go check that out and expect a new single in the next few months 🙂
