Interview With Sydney Alton! (@SydneyAlton)
1. How did you get your start in the music industry?
I’ve been singing and songwriting since a very young age, and it happened very naturally for me. At first I would just start posting covers on youtube, eventually I made the move out to LA to pursue my dreams and I started to professionally record my music. I was a runner up in the song of the year competition which was super cool since that was my original music! I’ve been waiting to put out my original music for awhile so I am super excited for world to hear it!
2. Who are your musical influences?
I have so many musical influences! I love music so much. A lot of artist that inspire me are Whitney Houston, Carrie Underwood, Demi Lovato, Jessie J, Taylor Swift. I really love to listen to all genres of music because it inspires me to grow as an artist and performer.
3. Can you tell us about your single “Soldier”?
Soldier is my first single, I wrote it a couple of years ago. The second I wrote it I knew that I wanted it to be my first single. I think its inspirational, but also a song you can vibe out to in the car with your friends.
4. What inspired the song?
It was right after I made the move to LA, my family made a lot of sacrifices for me to be here and I felt like Soldier was a song that inspired me to keep moving forward even through the tough times which is why I can’t wait for my fans to hear it, I hope that it inspires them so that they know no matter how big the “war” that they are fighting, they are a soldier and they can do anything.
5. Do you have an EP or album in the works?
I am hoping that the launch of Soldier will open doors for me to start working on an EP, I don’t when I will be making it but I will definitely be making it.
6. Do you have any upcoming projects that you’d like your fans to know about?
I am going to have a lyric video coming out for Soldier! I may be releasing a Christmas song so look out for that! In my spare time I also for my sisters fashion blog, her blog is super inspirational for young teens and adults to dress like everyday is a runway. Shanadeontherunway.com
7. What is your favorite Halloween costume you’ve ever worn?
I have a couple favorite halloween costumes. Last year I was Snow White and that was definitely one of my favs, and the other is when I was five I dressed up as Belle so basically all of the disney princesses.
8. Do you have any holiday traditions?
For the holidays I really just love being with my family and eating tons of food. My family is middle eastern so we eat a lot of traditional Chaldean food, its so good. I also bake Christmas cookies every year with my little cousins, and I have an elf of the shelf that stays out all year.
