Interview With Katie Wilson From Fullscreen’s “Kingdom Geek” (@TheKatieWilson)
1. How would you describe “Kingdom Geek”?
Kingdom Geek explores pop culture and nerdy topics with geeks of all kinds! With special celebrity guests, crazy games, and fun debates, Andre and I try to create an inviting atmosphere, no matter what level of geekdom you are, with open discussions, friendly conversations and a lot of laughs. Whether you’re noob or expert, medieval or future, retro or millennial, Team Cap or Team Iron Man, everyone is welcome to the Kingdom!
2. What is your favorite topic to discuss on the show?
I love discussing strong female characters on television, especially in genre shows! Some of my favorites include Xena Warrior Princess, Game of Thrones, The 100, Reign, The Walking Dead. In fact, I’ve talked SO much about Xena Warrior Princess on Kingdom Geek, the show has actually created a “Xena Counter” that pops up every time I reference it!
3. Who has been your favorite guest to appear on the show? Why?
So many I can’t just pick one! Our very first episode we shot was with Eliza Taylor from The 100, which was incredible! I’m such a fan of that show so to have “Clarke” as our very first guest was just so surreal. We also just recently had Milla Jovovich from the Resident Evil movies on the show and I thought my “fangirl” meter was going to burst! She’s such an inspiration to me as a strong female character, and she also happened to live up to those expectations in real life as well! Some of my other favorite guests have to include Craig Parker (Reign), Marcus Scribner (Blackish) and Violett Beane (The Flash).
4. How is “Kingdom Geek” different than other Fullscreen shows?
We’re the only show on the platform that discusses geek/pop culture and gaming with celebrity guests.
5. Why should people watch the show?
It’s so much fun! We have fun guests and play hilarious games! Our goal is to make everyone feel welcome regardless of the level of your geek knowledge.
6. Can you tell us about your YouTube channel? How did you get started?
I was getting hired as an actress to be in sketches and parody videos for some big YouTube channels. I was gaining subscribers from doing these videos and figured I should probably start making my own content. I wanted to create funny sketches, music videos and short films while mixing in my favorite things… geek culture and video games. I was able to use my channel to create/talk about things that I love and find an audience that loves the same things.
7. How would you describe the videos you post?
A geeky good time!
8. Do you have any upcoming videos your viewers can look forward to?
YES! So many! I’m working on creating/producing some original content right now, unfortunately I can’t say too much about that at the moment. What I can say is that viewers can definitely look forward to some Legend of Zelda related videos as well as Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.
9. Do you have any other upcoming projects?
There a lot I can’t say at the moment, but you can expect to see me guest star on a scripted Lifetime series soon! Also catch me every Thursday hosting Kingdom Geek on Fullscreen!
10. Where can your fans find you on social media?
