The latest news and interviews about Hollywood's rising stars

We recently had the chance to chat with the lovely Leila Jolene from Netflix’s “Seven And Me.” Jolene talked about getting her start in the entertainment industry, landing her role on “Seven And Me”, upcoming projects, and more!

  1. How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?

When I was little I started with an agency in Pittsburgh and from there, I did a few commercials and small films. Later, I was told by many people in the industry that I should start auditioning in New York, so I decided to travel there. A manager from New York was notified of my audition for Matilda and shortly after, decided to take me on as her client. A year later, I did a workshop back in Pittsburg with an acting coach from Los Angeles who suggested that I go to LA for pilot season. With the help of an agent, I have been in LA for the past 4 years when I am not working on a project.

  1. Who are your inspirations?

Ellen Degeneres, Mellissa McCarthy, Natalie Portman and Julia Roberts.

  1. What was your first project?

My first project was a Doritos commercial submission when I was 4.

  1. Can you tell us about how you landed your role in “Seven And Me”?

My manager Kathy Olsen submitted me for the role and I went to New York for several auditions. At the last audition, they mentioned how they really enjoyed my dance and singing video that they saw online. They also mentioned that they felt that I was very creative and had a lot of imagination.

  1. How would you describe your character?

Snow is probably the happiest, most selfless, caring, honest, and exhilarating person ever. She always has your back and knows what to do in times of need. Her positive attitude and determination, is what I like most about her.

  1. What is a typical day like on-set?

A day on set can vary depending on the scenes that day. Usually in the morning, I have to get ready with my hair, makeup and my outfit for the first scene. Later they will call me on set to prepare lighting and camera angles. Then shortly after that, we rehearse with the blocking and then we start shooting. We shoot all morning until lunch and then again all day until 6:00 pm. Tutoring is usually scheduled during this time but sometimes I have tutoring from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

  1. What has been your favorite episode to film?

My personal favorite to shoot was probably the marvelous exchange, episode 18. It’s when my mom and I switch bodies.

  1. When and where can fans watch?

The show is currently out on Netflix.

  1. Do you have any other upcoming projects?

I am currently working on a small project.. I am also waiting to hear back from a few films that I auditioned for.

  1. What are your social media accounts?

My Instagram and Twitter is @leilajolene.

  1. Do you have any holiday traditions?

My favorite holiday tradition is that we go ice-skating Christmas Eve. This year we will be at the Pittsburgh Ice Rink at PPG. We are always on a quest to find traditional carolers. Also around Christmas, we always drive around at night and look at everyone’s Christmas lights. Every year after Thanksgiving, we go to Rochester Hills, Michigan to see their downtown light display. And before Thanksgiving, we give all our Halloween Candy to the homeless.
