We recently had the chance to chat with rising pop artist Matt LeGrand. During the interview Matt dished about getting his start in the music industry, recording “All Good”, and more!

1. How did you get your start in music?

A: When I was 11 years young my mother took me to my first concert which was “The Rolling Stones!” Thats where I really fell in love with music. I fell in love with the idea of being on a stage and getting a chance to tell your stories! My mother bought me my first guitar 2 weeks after that. I really wanted to be Keith Richards. I still kind of do! lol

2. Who are your favorite artists?

A: I have so many! This is always the hardest question believe it or not! My top favorites are U2, Coldplay, Blink-182, The Rolling Stones, The 1975, and Ed Sheeran! Im also kind of digging Cardi B lately!

3. How would you describe your sound?

A: So I would definitely put myself in the category of “POP” but nowadays that term is incredibly broad. To be honest, I don’t really like boxing myself in to a specific description. I don’t think its healthy for me to do that as a creative person. With that said I do really like the question though because I find that my music has many different undertones and textures that really stem from all kinds of genres, which makes this questions super interesting. I think I have many different facets and I hope to keep incorporating more more as my career unfolds. At the end of the day I make sure that what ever I am doing has some sort of a positive and relatable message! I like to leave it up to my wonderful fans to name a genre for me!

4. What do you think makes you stand out from other artists?

A: I think what makes me stand out is simply me just being me. We are all unique and we all have different stories. As a singer/songwriter we are also story tellers and nobody has the same exact experience in life. We get to witness all of these beautiful artists that share there life story and Im really happy that I get to do it through song!

5. What was the recording process like for “All Good”?

A: “All Good” is actually a funny story because the song wasn’t intended to be for me! The team and I were working down in Atlanta and we got invited to a studio for a listening session. We heard so many cool original ideas! When we were getting ready to leave, the engineer was playing a song in the background. It almost looked like he pulled it up to work on it but we knew that he wanted to be subtle about showing us the song. The song started playing as we were heading out and it stopped us in our tracks. We quickly ran back in and asked what it was! He said “Ahh its nothing. Just this song I’ve been working on.” It ended up becoming my first single in about 2 years. There was magic in that studio! The magic that I strive to come back to as much as I can!

6. What is the song about? Or what inspired the song?

A: The song is about a toxic relationship essentially. Lets say, one that you’re just better off on your own. “All Good” was a collaboration with a great team in Atlanta. I didn’t come up with the original idea of the song but I did have the same experience as the writer. I almost like to think that the song found me because everything that the song was talking about made sense and it was easy for me to tap into that emotion. For me it’s a song about self-care and self-love!

7. What has the fan reaction been like?

A: Every single day I am getting a new comment about how much people have enjoyed it! I did a small intimate performance in Chicago the other night and a girl came up to me and said “Wow I really needed your music today.” That really makes it all worth it.

8. Will you be doing any touring to promote the single?

A: I hope to be latching on to some tour this year! Keeping my fingers crossed. Im dying to meet my fans!

9. Where can fans listen to the song?

A: So if everyone goes to my instagram page @mattlegrandofficial You can find the link to “All Good” and a whole bunch of other videos I have done! It is the best place to stay connected with me!

10. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

A: I really like to rock climb with my friends! I like doing yoga, trying new foods, experiencing things I’ve never done, being with family and friends. I also like to juggle!

11. What are your goals for 2018?

A: My goals are to continue to develop who I am as a person and as an artist. Id like to come out with an EP album, jump on a tour, travel, perform, perform, and then perform some more! lol

12. Do you have any other upcoming projects that you can tell us about?
