Interview With “OMG” Star Samantha Gangal!

We recently had the chance to chat with “OMG” star Samantha Gangal about getting her start in the entertainment industry, working on “OMG”, upcoming projects, and more!
- How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
I got my start in the entertainment industry by taking part in a national talent competition when I was 9 years old. I won the overall talent category and was able to sign with an agent and manager in Los Angeles.
- What was your first project?
My first project was a commercial for Duracell batteries. It was the first project for which I auditioned when I first got to LA.
- How did you land your role on “OMG”?
For OMG, I auditioned for the role and was cast directly from the first audition.
- What is the show about?
I did two different series shows for OMG, “Just Jacques” and “Boy Band Billy.” Just Jacques was a comedy about a French exchange student running for class president. Boy Band Billy was about a former boy band singer adapting to his new life as a “regular” kid in a normal school.
- Who do you play?
In Just Jacques, I was Katherine, the political rival of the French exchange student. For Boy Band Billy, I played multiple roles (Katherine, Beth, Keisha) as classmate, vice president of student council, and lab partner in home economics class.
- How are you similar or different from your character?
I’m kind of the same as each character I portrayed. I’m sort of nerdy and no nonsense. However I can’t say I’m totally no nonsense. I do like to have fun when I can.
- What was your favorite episode to film?
My favorite episode to film was the Home Economics episode of Boy Band Billy. “Billy” was trying to bake cookies and the results were pretty messy and hilarious. It took a few takes to keep from laughing.
- How would you describe the set in 3 words?
So incredibly fun!
- What is your favorite project you have worked on so far?
I would say the OMG episodes were my favorite. I don’t get to act with a full cast of other kids too often, so that was pretty cool!
- What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Singing is definitely one of my favorite things to do. I also like hanging out with my friends.
- Do you have any upcoming projects?
One of my friends and I are always working on creating short films together. Our next movie is in the planning stages right now and should start filming soon.
