Interview With Musican Mauro!

We recently had the chance to chat with the musician Mauro about getting his start in the entertainment industry, a typical day in the studio, upcoming projects, and more!
- How did you get your start in the music industry?
I’ve been working in the arts since I was 4 through painting, drawing, writing, acting and singing. I wrote my first album when I was 10 and been performing, writing, producing, the whole thing since then. So far it’s been 16 years and I think all the artistic fields I had worked on previously gave birth to my music career. I remember being a kid and always on stage performing and knowing that was my home.
- Who are your musical influences?
Currently I’m a tourist in the land of fantasy versus reality, my music is influenced by both edges.
- How would you describe your sound?
A passionate chameleon that changes colors according to his inner revolutions.
- What was your reaction when you found out that you song reached #1 on the Hollywood pop chart?
I was dancing, very happy! Because it’s a song I wrote for survivors and warriors of life, everyone who deals with adversity and rises above it all. I got messages from people all over the world and they told me they loved the purpose behind it. Storms may come our way but we can dance through them. I’m happy the message reached so many hearts, I feel fulfilled as an artist.
- What has the writing and recording process been like for your upcoming album?
Music has always come naturally to me. I write every single day and in this opportunity the process was rewarding as I ended up with 200 new songs. I composed anywhere I was, with or without instruments, while traveling, on the plane on my way to a different city and at midnight too, I didn’t sleep many nights because the songs had me too hooked to close my eyes. I remember being in the shower one night and singing one of the songs as if it was already finished, and afterwards running towards my recorder to capture it; that’s what frequently happens to me I sing or play the songs as if they were already built.
- What is a typical day like in the studio?
Lots of fun, I bring the excitement because I’ve got all my ideas ready to be materialized. I’m in charge of every aspect of my music so I’m more than happy to produce in the room where the magic happens. I record the skeleton and work from there with all my pointers.
- How do you choose the songs you’re going to put on the record?
In the past my albums would build themselves consecutively. Now there are certain considerations I take, from what I want my fans to listen first, their preferences related to my previous records, my current state of life and what my heart can’t just stop beating for. There are cases in which I can’t let a song pass me by if the memory is too hard to keep silent, then the world needs to hear it.
- What was your favorite memory from tour?
Everything! All the nice people who came to see me, the photos we took, the food, the breathtaking views with graffiti, I had an amazing photo-shoot at the beach that I fell in love with. I love traveling. The whole experience always inspires me to write more music and I’ve got some songs about it too. Touring is the best!
- Do you have a favorite city you traveled to?
Hard to choose one!
- Where is one place you want to go, but haven’t been to yet?
Egypt
- What can fans expect from your upcoming music?
A rebellion of sound with a ticket to dreamland.
- Do you have any other upcoming projects?
I’m currently in the middle of an artistic transformation that will take place with my new music and it’s keeping me quite busy lately, besides that I have a book I wrote glaring at me for not publishing it yet… still in my to-do list.
- What is a fun fact about yourself?
I also write poems, paint and draw. I’m left-handed. I love chocolate too.
