1. When did you realize you wanted to pursue music as a career?
I knew from a very young age that I was meant to create music. However, I believe the opportunity to have a career in music chooses you. I feel that until the moment opportunity shows itself, we’re all just on the path of developing and building ourselves into artists who will be ready to answer that call.
2. How would you describe your musical style?
My sound musically is a hybrid of many genres, all being expressed with the spirit of Hip Hop at its core. My style is Iconic, Bold, and Honest. And that style lives in everything I do in life.
3. What do you think makes your music stand out from that of other artists?
I believe one element that separates artists is life experience. We each have different stories, or different perspectives on similar stories. Aside from my sound, influences, etc., I believe my life experience makes me not only unique but hopefully valuable.
4. What inspires your music?
Whenever I hear something really fresh from a great artist, or see a dope design or painting it always inspires the initial desire to create. Then, any powerful moments, or life experiences inspire the content of the creation.
5. What is the creative process like for you?
One thing I do is imagine myself on stage, in a massive Stadium, when I write. One of my favorite writing setups is to be alone, in an bright and open indoor space, that I can stomp and dance around in. I like to be able to blast the volume and fully perform my ideas while they come to me. This helps me find the messages that feel most Iconic and Epic. But I’ve also had some unbelievable experiences collaborating in a tight room, full of musicians, just building momentum off each other’s energies.
6. What is a typical day like in the studio?
Our studio sessions are typically all business. By the time we reach the studio, we usually have most of the music completed and ready to go, so we jump right in and get it done. Unless we are using the studio as a meeting space for a group to collaborate, then it’s a lot less structured and more relaxed.
7. What projects has your music been a part of?
Empire, Ballers, Atlanta, Queen of the South, Lethal Weapon, Krypton and Power to name a few. I also have music in a number of games like Watch Dogs 2, and even sporting events like the Super Bowl and League of Legends.
8. What do you hope people take away from your music?
The best examples I can give are from comments on YouTube. “This song has me pumped for a huge track meet tomorrow!”, “This always gives me the power to have more badass workout”, ”I Listen to this before work. Get’s my mind right for the day.” These are real people who are finding use in my music in their daily lives. It’s functional art. I want people to feel powerful, unstoppable, and most of all I want them to feel heard.
9. Do you have any other upcoming projects you’re working on?
Actually, I just confirmed a really special collaborative project, but I’m not sure how much I can say yet. I can tell you that I will be creating with one of the most incredible legends in modern history. I can easily say that, within their genre, they’re unanimously considered the Greatest of all time. No pressure though, its so organic and natural, and I cannot wait to share it.
