Interview With “Days Of Our Lives” Star Terrell Ransom Jr. (@TerrellRansomJr)

We recently had the chance to chat with “Days of our Lives” star Terrell Ransom Jr. about getting his start in the entertainment industry, working on “Days of our Lives,” filming “Knight Righters,” and more!
- How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?
I was watching “Hannah Montana” and I remember telling my mom that I wanted to be on TV, in movies and magazines. She told me I was only three years old and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I told her, I did. Six months later my mom and I moved from Houston to Los Angeles, so that I could try acting and see if I liked it. I got an agent and they started submitting me for auditions.
- What was your first big project?
The soap opera “Days of Our Lives” was the first big project that I booked and worked on.
- How did you land your role on “Days of Our Lives?”
I auditioned for the role of Theo Carver and I booked it.
- What was that experience like for you?
“Days of Our Lives” was a really exciting experience because it was my first television role. And I basically grew up on the show. After seven years, the cast and crew were like my second family. The best part was being able to play James Reynold and Renee Jones’s son on TV. They were two of the best TV parents ever! I always had fun on the set working, especially when I got to work with other kids.
- What was the biggest thing you took away from working on the show?
Playing Theo was such a serious and important role. One of the producers set it up so that I could meet with some children who had autism, so I could interact with them which helped make my portrayal so believable. I feel like that really interesting experience helped me become a better actor.
- Do you prefer doing on-camera acting or voice acting?
I really love doing both. Voice acting is easier of course. I always say this but it’s true, I can go to the studio in my pajamas if I want. I record my lines for an episode in an hour or two and I’m done. It’s a lot more work when I’m acting in front of the camera like having to memorize my lines, work with other people, and film multiple scenes. But I’ve worked on some really projects and met some cool people that are now my friends, so it’s hard to choose one over the other.
- Are you currently working on any other projects fans can look forward to?
I filmed a super cool teen sci-fi, action as a lead in a project called “Knight Righters” this summer. It’s basically about these watches that glitch which causes two best friends to travel in time to try to stop bad things from happening. I’m really hoping that fans will be able to watch the film soon.
- Do you have any fun summer plans?
I’m literally just playing tons of video games and chilling with friends. I’ve been going to Six Flags and the movies a lot. I love doing that.
- What are your goals for 2018?
One of them is earning my black belt in Taekwondo and Extreme Martial Arts. And I’m always hoping to book a lead in a Marvel series or movies or you know, book the role of Miles Morales.
