The latest news and interviews about Hollywood's rising stars

We recently had the chance to chat with Sissy Sheridan about landing her role on “Chicken Girls”, working with the cast, upcoming projects, and more!

  1. How did you land your role on “Chicken Girls?”

My manager sent in several video audition tapes to casting.  I was vacationing on Grand Cayman Island with my family when I found out that I was cast as Angie.  We jumped on a plane the next day and many hours later arrived in LA. It was all very exciting!!

  1. How would you describe your character?

Angie is definitely a wild card.  She is the queen of the theatre department and when Rhyme auditions for the show, Angie is very upset because of how protective she is of the theatre.  In season 3 Angie has some crazy moments! I loved playing her because we’re so different in real life. That’ the thrill of acting – bringing the character to life.

  1. What is your favorite part about your character?

How dramatic she is!  Watching her make an entrance to a room is like “Wow’ who is that girl??  She’s over the top in everything she does from coughing to drinking bottled water.

  1. How are you similar and different to her?

We are similar in that we both take theatre very seriously, we both put in the work required.  I train weekly with vocal, dance, and acting coaches. We both see theatre as an art. I’m different than her in that I’m a very friendly, outgoing person who loves meeting new people.

  1. How has your life changed since the release of the show?

I’m still the same person with the same friends – but my Instagram followers have really increased.  The fan base for Chicken Girls is AMAZING! There are so many smart and passionate kids that follow the show.  I feel honored that they have chosen to follow my accounts sharing my wacky life.

  1. Were you expecting the show to be such a big hit?

Yes!  I had watched some episodes before being cast and it’s just a really fun show filled with teenage drama.

  1. What has been your favorite episode to film so far?

Episode 12.  The school musical that we’ve been working on all season happens.  it was so fun to record the original music at the studio! I love singing and was happy to get to record the song.  I started as a musical theatre kid so the scenes came very natural to me. It’s high energy choreography and the costumes were very campy.

  1. What is a behind-the-scenes secret you can share with us?

I wish I could but I can’t!!

  1. Do you hang out with the rest of the cast when you’re not working?

Most of the cast live in California and I live in Washington, DC.  I am in LA monthly and during those times I have the opportunity to reunite with my fellow Chicken Girl’s cast-mates.

  1. Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?

My best advice would be to let kids know that they should be having fun!  Yes, it is a lot of work – there are vocal, acting, and dance lessons as well as your regular school work – but if creative arts are your passion then work hard and stick to it!  Starting with your school play or musical or community theatre is a fantastic way to get started.

  1. Do you have any upcoming projects?

Yes – I am shooting a SAG feature film in New York in February which I am very excited about.  Additionally, I have a music video coming out in the spring. I’m a contributing writer for BRAT.com and you can continue to find my articles and videos there.
