The latest news and interviews about Hollywood's rising stars

1. How did you get started in the music industry?

I’ve been singing my whole life and when I was 11 began writing songs by myself after teaching myself guitar on Youtube. I had been really sick and it became my way of escaping. I grew up around the industry in LA and in a musical home but didn’t know anyone else my age who did what I loved. So I posted the videos on Facebook for fun and when people came up to me at school saying they could relate to my songs and wanted to buy them, I decided to do some demos and it went from there. I moved to Nashville at 18, studied Music Business at Belmont and interned at publishing companies/labels to learn as much as I could.

2. What inspired your most recent single “Messy”?

There’s a lot of a fakeness about our culture today and I wanted to write a song that embraced life’s very real struggles and unified people through a positive message. I am huge on being real and I also try my best to spread a little light whenever I can. Music lets me do that.

3. What is the song about?

The song follows two different stories— one following a girl named Jane who hates her job and like many of us, compares her life to social media, the other following Ricky, a former college star who gets injured and loses his dream to opiates. One lighter story and one darker story, but both that ultimately share the same message: that yes, life is messy no matter who you are, but its perfect until its gone. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, none of us have perfect lives, and there’s something unifying about that.  It celebrates our strength in pushing forward one day at a time.

4. What can fans expect from the music video?

The music video was a blast to film because I wanted it to fade in and out between me casually working at a car wash telling these stories and then in contrast, me in a suit in a dark garage telling the same exact stories. I got be a total goof, play air guitar and in both environments, letting it all just go.
