The latest news and interviews about Hollywood's rising stars

ImageWe recently had the chance to speak with Natalie Nylon on her music, upcoming projects, and more! Make sure you check it out below!

1. How did you get started in the music industry?
I discovered that I loved music when I started taking piano lessons at 4 years old. Then I moved on to viola, bass guitar, guitar, keyboards and dabbled in all different genres of music- ya know, the whole playing in rock bands at skate parks and wreck centers as a teenager thing haha. I started writing pop songs when I was 13 or 14 in my basement for fun. I was really into Disney movies so they sounded like that. Actually you can still here some influences of Disney songs in the music that I write now lol. I really began to take my solo pop music seriously when three of my songs hit #1 on the dance charts in Europe.
2. Who are your favorite artists?
The Sounds, The Pixies, Shiny Toy Guns, Desaparecidos, Hot Water Music, Kelly Clarkson, The Cure, Lana Del Rey
3. What is your favorite part about singing?
Everything! I love it all. Performing, writing, taking singing lessons, improving my voice. When I’m in the studio, my producer Pete Mills and I work on every line in my songs. We listen to other artists and get inspiration and work on making every line in the song sound as unique as possible. We work on phrasing things differently, moving my mouth or tongue in different positions to make a different sound, making weird sounds, using accents…there is so much you can do with the human voice. Its really unbelievable and amazing.
4. If you could sing with another artist who would it be and why?
Marilyn Monroe if I could go back in time! I just think she’s super sexy and I’d love to sing to the troops in Korea with her. She’s a gemini like me:) Or Kelly Clarkson if we’re going for the living haha. I really respect her as a pop artist and think she’s really talented and a strong, independent woman.
5. Can you tell us about your new album?
Star-Crossed Lovers is an album I wrote this past year. Some of the songs are about my breakup with my ex-fiance, all the hard times we had, but becoming a stronger person because of it all. Others are about a professional skateboarder who I have a major crush on but it never seems to work out- hence the title “Star-Crossed Lovers.” Some say the stars are against our relationship. But I gotta say, it gives me plenty of inspiration and things to write about! You never know what will happen in the future…fingers crossed.
6. What inspired your song ” Dry Rivers”
Dry Rivers was inspired by my breaking up with my ex-fiance and trying to move forward in life. This was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through so this song has a lot of meaning to me and is extremely personal. I was so in love with him but knew we weren’t right for each other. When you’re in a relationship like that, love can be blinding and you need help seeing the whole picture. I called on my friends and family for support, hence the lyrics “shine a light / light my path though it is winding / satellite / find my heart where it’s been hiding.” We had a lot of hard times and our relationship was like a roller coaster- so dramatic and up and down. But I pulled myself out of it, hence the lyrics “dry rivers start to flow / the darkness turns to glow.” There’s always a light at the end of a tunnel. I wrote this song for others to listen and if they can relate, hopefully it will help them if they are ever going through a hard time like I did.
7. Do you have any upcoming projects, shows, appearances, etc?
