Interview With Angelica Alcala! (@Angelica_AH_95)
- How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?
I got my start in entertainment when I was very young as a competitive dancer. Once I realized how much I loved being on stage dancing, I decided to start singing and acting and ended up performing in theatre and off-Broadway. I relocated to LA this year because of offers I received in the entertainment industry, and I was very successful in pursuing modeling and film acting, which I absolutely love! My career in music really developed when I wanted to start creating my own sound and I decided it was time to branch out into recording my creations. From the first time I heard myself through my truck speakers I knew music was what I wanted to do.
- Can you tell us about your new single “Reign”?
My new single Reign is about me! While writing Reign I wanted it to be something that would be very important to me as well as be something to which people my age could relate. I faced many obstacles growing up, but every challenge that came my way made me grow into the proud and strong person I am today, and that is what Reign is about.
- What inspired the song?
What inspired Reign was my younger self. I like to think of the message of my song being from the little girl who was unsure of herself speaking to the confident person she is now, which is me.
- Who are your musical inspirations?
There are many people that influence my music, but the one person who has inspired me since day one of my music career is Brad Paisley. Being from Texas, country music is something you’re almost born loving, and even though my personal style of music that I sing is pop, I am inspired by country music. Other artists that inspire me are Lady Gaga because she so effortlessly brings those classic songs back in her own unique way, as well as kills it with her pop music. The Chainsmokers are also very inspirational because as a tap dancer I am always looking for music that has an awesome rhythm. That group never fails in that department!
- Can you tell us about what it has been like being named “Miss teen Texas”?
Being Miss Texas Teen was one of the greatest years of my life as well as the year I really grew and learned about what I wanted to accomplish in life. During my reign as Miss Texas Teen, I created my own non-profit organization that raised awareness for children with cancer and men and women in the Wounded Warrior Project. 100% of the proceeds and donations I made were donated to MD Anderson and the WWP, of which I was very proud. I was able to meet the Governor, House Representative, and many other inspiring public figures, and I traveled all over the country representing the great state of Texas! I also learned during my year as Miss Texas Teen that I had a passion for modeling because of all of the photoshoots that I went through that year. Being Miss Texas Teen really opened a lot of doors for me to accomplish my goals of being a model! My favorite part about my year of service was that I personally met and helped young girls from all over the country build self-confidence and encourage them to go after their goals and dreams.
- How has your life changed?
Since being Miss Texas Teen my life has been a blessing! The most important thing to remember when you pass on your title to the next winner is that it doesn’t mean you are done being a role model. I consider myself to be someone who has the power to make an impact, and that impact should be positive! I was able to sign with some modeling agencies and talent agencies following my year as Miss Texas Teen, and to this day I am still working as a model and actress! Pageantry really taught me how to be the best version of myself I could possibly be.

- Do you have any other projects that your fans can look forward to?
YES! I am currently working on my next single, and I am so excited to share it with everyone!
