We recently had the chance to chat with Tetona Jackson from Hulu’s “All Night” about getting her start in the entertainment industry, her character, upcoming projects, and more!

1. How did you land your role in “All Night?”

I landed my role as Cassie in “All Night” by auditioning. I actually didn’t think I booked the role at first because so much time had gone by before my team and I even heard back. Then, two days after I tested for the role, my agent called me and was like “Do you want the good news or the bad news first?” Naturally I asked for the bad news haha. And he jokingly said, “Well you have a lot of work to do because you start filming next week!” I literally screamed in the middle of the restaurant I was at haha.

2. What was the show about?

The show is about a group of high school students who just graduated and have one last chance to make their high school dreams come true. The whole show takes place in one night at an overnight lock-in grad night party with no phones or alcohol allowed. But…some of us find a way to sneak some in 😉

3. How would you describe your character?

Cassie is an out lesbian who tends to march to beat of her own drum. She has her two best friends (Deanna and Fig) and they pretty much stick to their own crew. She also has a lot of layers to her that most people don’t see. She’s very confident, but also tends to have a hard time being vulnerable, even with the people closest to her. But, throughout the course of the night you start to see a different, more vulnerable side to her.

4. How are you similar and different to your character?

I think I’m similar to Cassie in a lot of ways. I have my close group of friends and I like to think I have her confidence too haha. I also tend to shy away from having any sort of confrontational conversation with someone haha. So basically, I’m Cassie.

5. What has been your favorite episode to film so far?

Oh man. That’s a tough one. Honestly, they were all so much fun in their own way. But one of my favorite scenes was in Episode 8 with Teala. We have a super emotional scene where you get to see a difference side of Cassie for the first time and I love it.

6. What is a typical day like on-set?

A typical day on set would always start with food because we had the best omelet bar in the mornings haha. Then I’d go through hair and make up and do a quick rehearsal with our director and crew to set up the scene. Once everything was ready we would start shooting. Usually, in between scenes I would hang out with the rest of the cast. Since most of my scenes were either with Jenn or Teala, I would usually have down time with them so we would just hang out in one of our rooms until they needed us back on set.

7. What is a behind-the-scenes secret you can share with us?

Omg ok this ones kind of gross but still so funny. So we had a fake bathroom on set for filming purposes, and one day we came to set and someone had gone to the bathroom… in the fake toilet. Like… number 2 haha. Still until this day, we have yet to find out who actually did it hahahaha. I’m determined to figure it out.

8. Are you working on any other projects at the

moment?

I’m not filming anything at the moment, but I do two movies coming out soon that I’m really excited about. One is a horror movie called “Severed Road” and the other one is a dance movie called “All Styles” where I play love interest to Fik-Shun from “So You Think You Can Dance”.
