Interview With “Asunder The Series” Star Tony Devon Head! (@TonyDevonHead)

We recently had the chance to chat with “Asunder the Series” star Tony Devon Head about landing the role, playing ‘Austin Blair,” working on “Pride the Series,” and more!
- How did you land your role in ASUNDER THE SERIES?
The producers contacted my legit agent in LA(Central Artists) and expressed interest in having me join the cast. I saw some of projects Landra Phillips(executive producer) was working on and agreed to come on board .
- What is the show about?
The show follows two powerful families in the cosmetic industry, both fighting for dominance in the very competitive fragrance market.
- What character do you play?
I play Austin Blair, the president CEO and patriarch of the family. He’s a driven, ruthless and cunning businessman who doesn’t let anyone get in his way, but the hardened exterior covers up other layers to his character that will be exposed as well.
- How is he different from those that you’ve played in the past?
I’ve played a multitude of characters over the years, I think Austin Blair is going to be the most fun and the most challenging. If you play a villain one way it’s boring. I think it’s always interesting to find something about him that’s makes the character more empathetic.
- What’s been your favorite episode to film so far? When will the show be released?
I’ve only shot a couple of episodes thus far. We expect Asunder to be released this year.
- What do you think will make the show stand out?
This series will be hot! It is a soap opera but its going to stretch some boundaries and have people talking. That’s all I can say.
- What is your character like on PRIDE THE SERIES? What is it like working on that show?
I play George Williams the father of Kai(Dorell Anthony) and Trina(Ashley Mitchell), who’s trying to atone for bad behavior and bring his family together. Throw in the x wife and the girlfriend and anyone can see he has his hands full.
- What do you think draws fans in to PRIDE the SERIES?
Dorell Anthony(executive producer and creator) has created a wonderful story about complex, interesting and intriguing characters. These are characters that heretofore have not been seen with any regularity on mainstream television. This LGBQT themed series is a breakthrough which is why it’s already garnered numerous award nominations and wins.
- Are you currently working on any other projects?
In addition to Asunder and Pride, I recently did an episode of Madam Secretary on CBS. I have a recurring role on “Bronx SIU” a new digital web series produced by Dan Garcia and Mike Mayhall premiering this summer. I’m also appearing in the feature film”Strive” with Danny Glover and a new untitled feature coming soon produced by Anthony del Negro starring some very talented Oscar and Emmy winners. Hopefully we can talk about that next time after we get the go ahead to talk about specifics.
- What is something that you think most people wouldn’t know about the entertainment industry?
Speaking as an actor, I would say that most people aren’t aware of all the hard work that goes into it. There’s rarely a true “overnight success”. It takes years of training and repeated failure just to have a shot at success.
- Do you have any advice for aspiring actors?
Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. More specifically don’t believe it. If you want to be an actor the biggest obstacle to your success will be you. Are you going to work hard enough? Are you going to make the sacrifices you need to make? You need 100% commitment. Anything less than that ..try another profession.
