Interview With Radio Disney’s ‘Next Big Thing’ Winner – JAGMAC! (@JagMacMusic)

We recently had the chance to chat with Radio Disney’s ‘Next Big Thing’ winner – JAGMAC. During the interview, JAGMAC talked about getting started in the industry, being apart of ‘Next Big Thing’, upcoming tour plans, and more!
- How did you form as a group?
We surprised our dad by singing a song together that our brother wrote for him for his surprise birthday party about 13 years ago and have been singing together since.
2. How did you come up with the name for your group?
Our mom actually came up with the name! We’ve been through an evolution of different names, but we think this one fits us best because it literally IS all of our names combined into one!
3. How would you describe your sound?
Our sound is definitely pop with some elements of funk, dance and R&B. Our music is constantly evolving and growing, but one thing that remains the same is our positive message. We like to make sure each song has clean lyrics so that everyone can enjoy it!
4. What do you think sets you apart from other musicians?
One thing that sets us apart from other musicians is that we are all martial artists and have our black belts in Tae Kwon Do!
5. What were your reactions when you found out that you were named Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing?
We were all ecstatic!! Some of us were even in tears! Radio Disney has been such a huge blessing to our career.
6. What has that experience been like for you?
The experience being the NBT has been phenomenal. Radio Disney has accepted us as a part of their family and we couldn’t have done it without all their support!
7. Have you had any crazy or most memorable fan encounters?
Honestly, we’ve had some fans travel miles and miles, people from different states and countries just to come to one of our shows – and that to us is insane!! We definitely have some of the best fans in the world!! We also had someone tattoo our lyrics on their arm!! Can’t forget that!!
8. What is your favorite song of yours?
We get asked this question often, but can never answer it! It’s so hard to pick a favorite because we like all of them and can’t wait to share them all with the world!
9. What inspires a majority of your music?
What inspires our music are real life events. Our lyrics have to come from a real place otherwise it’s not authentic.
10. Do you have any upcoming projects that fans can look forward to?
YES! We will be going on tour with ‘In Real Life’ starting in September and will be releasing a single followed by and EP.
11. What was the most fun thing you did this summer?
The highlight of the summer would definitely be attending and making an appearance at the RDMA’s!!
12. What are your goals for 2018?
Our goals for the rest of the year would be to keep touring, releasing music, making tv appearances and meeting new fans!
13. What is something that fans wouldn’t know about you?
We’re very big into sports and are very superstitious. LOL. We even have a ritual dance that we do every time our team scores a touchdown!
