John Eddins Spills About Working on “Bosch”, “Young Sheldon”, and Upcoming Projects

We recently had the great pleasure of chatting with John Eddins about his time working on “Bosch”, “Young Sheldon”, and several other projects throughout his career so far. Check out what he had to say below!
1. How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?
After college, I got a quick gig selling health insurance. By chance I rang the door bell of then veteran comedy writer and teacher Danny Simon. I quickly told him that my company couldn’t really help him. He admired my honesty and took me under his wing as his assistant/protege. All I really did make copies and lug supplies to the recreation room where he taught his class. But I got to take his course and listen to his stories after class at dinner. Not only was he hilarious but he was a great, kind human being an insightful instructor. He was the first to help me find my voice. I still have my notes.
2. What was your first big project?
My first big project was In The Heat of the Night guest starring opposite Wayne Brady. Carol O’Connor cast me. He was the greatest. But I’ll never forget guest starring as a hit man in the season 1 finale of the Sopranos, blasting away at Tony Soprano.
3. Do you prefer acting, producing, or writing?
Actually I prefer the writing/directing combo but theatre will always be my first love.
4. Which did you start doing first?
I starting acting first, my sophomore year in college. First time I took the stage, that was it!
5. Where do you see yourself in your career in five years?
I see myself producing forward thinking television and film. I have a tremendous respect for the business and the impact it has has on our cultural landscape.
6. Are you currently working on any projects you’d like to share with us?
I have been recurring for 5 seasons on Bosch as Sgt. Wash. I’m also featured on this season on Better Things, Young Sheldon and an upcoming episode of Life In Pieces. I also wrote and directed my first short film/pilot PAWG -Day12 “Pretty Ass White Girl” which has screened across the country and abroad garnering several festival selections and multiple awards this year. June 16th we are screening at the Silicon Beach Film Festival here in Los Angeles.
