Interview With Rising Country Artist Elizabeth Gerardi! (@EGerardiMusic)

1. How did you get your start in the music industry?
Ever since I was a young child, I knew I loved to sing. I would always love to sing the songs I heard from the Disney movies, and even put on little shows for my friends and family during parties. Everyone knew I loved to entertain, but when I was 12, I taught myself how to play guitar, and that’s when my friends and family really started to take notice that I had real talent. I wasn’t just a little girl singing Cheetah Girl’s songs into my hairbrush anymore! At that point, my mom started to take me to local coffee shops for Open Mic Night’s and helping me find other local gigs!
2. What led you to gravitate towards country?
I grew up listening to a lot of the classic country artists like Johnny Cash, but when I was around 10 years old, I saw Carrie Underwood on American Idol and fell in love with her music. That led me to pursue listening to other artists in the genre. The more I listened to Country music, the more I loved it. The lyrics are truly the focus in the genre, and it’s the way the words can paint a picture to evoke emotion is something I really gravitated to.
3. Who are some of your favorite artists?
Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, Elvis, and Johnny Cash. Those are probably my biggest inspirations. I’m also really enjoying Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton and Maren Morris at the moment!
4. If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be and why?
There are so many! But if I had to choose, it would be Shania Twain. She has had such a big influence on me; particularly as a songwriter. She truly created her own unique sound using humor and wit, and her songs are just so fun!
5. How would you describe your sound?
I like to play around with modern and traditional sounds. Catchy, up-beat melodies – which I believe is recognizable in my new single, “Putting Up With Me”. As my inspirations range from older artists to modern pop-country singers, I like to channel both.
6. What is your single “Putting Up With Me” about?
I wrote “Putting Up With Me” as a playful, yet honest love song about my relationship with my fiancĂ©, Christian. I was thinking about all of the little things that he does on a daily basis that I probably don’t thank him enough for. He really does a lot just to make me happy, and I can certainly be a little high-maintenance at times. I wanted to write a song that put a little bit of humor into that, while also showing how much I appreciate him.
7. Do you have an EP or full length album in the works?
Not currently. At this point, I’m going to be releasing some more single’s until I jump into a full-length album. I’m hoping to record my next single later this Summer.
